This project brings together a series of bespoke Benny bench seating and conference units to create a cohesive and multifunctional learning environment within a school in Newcastle. Designed to support both informal interaction and structured group work, the seating introduces a balance between comfort, durability and visual consistency. The combination of open bench seating and more defined conference arrangements allows the space to adapt to a range of activities throughout the day.
The design centres on creating a unified seating language across different zones. Benny bespoke benches with fluted back detailing establish a strong architectural rhythm, while their integrated plinths provide a grounded and durable base suited to high-use environments. Conference seating elements introduce more structured settings for focused group work, combining integrated tables with bench seating to support collaboration and discussion. A carefully considered material palette ensures continuity throughout the space. Upholstery in Panaz Soft Touch Pro 401 Amber adds warmth and texture to the Benny seating, while Panaz Aston fabrics in Ash and Zinc provide contrast and refinement within the conference areas. The use of Egger Sand Gladstone Oak MFC across plinths and structural elements reinforces a consistent visual identity, complemented by integrated power modules that support modern learning and device use.
The result is a versatile and robust seating environment tailored to the needs of a contemporary school setting. The combination of informal bench seating and structured conference units creates a balanced space that supports collaboration, focus and everyday use. Through cohesive material choices and considered detailing, the design delivers a durable and visually unified solution that enhances both functionality and the overall learning experience.
