This project brings together a series of bespoke seating solutions to create a dynamic and multifunctional sixth form environment in Bradford. Combining tiered seating, banquette arrangements and enclosed booths, the space supports a variety of learning styles—from independent study to group collaboration. The integration of open and more private settings creates a balanced environment that encourages both focus and interaction.
The design centres on layering different seating typologies to define zones within an open learning space. Tiered seating forms a central social hub, constructed from lacquered poplar plywood and complemented by oak slat wall detailing, introducing warmth and architectural rhythm. Benny bespoke banquette seating runs along the perimeter, providing structured and comfortable areas for informal study and longer sessions. Session booths introduce more enclosed environments for focused work and small group discussions, integrating lighting, power and acoustic comfort. A cohesive material palette reinforces the design, with Camira Blazer fabrics used across seating elements and Egger H1733 MFC providing a consistent base finish. Integrated ION power modules ensure the space supports modern learning and device use.
The result is a flexible and engaging sixth form environment that supports a range of activities throughout the day. The combination of open tiered seating, structured banquette areas and enclosed booths creates a well-balanced space for collaboration, concentration and social interaction. The design delivers a contemporary, student-focused environment that enhances both functionality and overall spatial experience.
