Ally Bespoke Seating

Modular Circular Configuration

Overview

The Ally bespoke seating configuration introduces a series of modular, curved seating arrangements designed to support informal interaction within a contemporary university environment in London. Formed as circular layouts with integrated central voids, the seating creates social hubs that encourage connection, collaboration and flexible use.

The combination of low and medium back elements allows the space to balance openness with a subtle sense of enclosure.

The Design Approach

The design is driven by a modular system of modified single-seat units, arranged to form two smaller circular settings alongside larger, more defined configurations. The inner curved geometry creates continuous seating loops, with central gaps designed to accommodate planting, adding a natural focal point and enhancing the spatial experience.

The use of Agua Aries upholstery in both Lemon and Dark Blue introduces a vibrant yet balanced colour contrast, helping to define each seating zone while maintaining visual cohesion. Integrated linking between modules ensures a seamless and stable configuration, while incorporated power modules (ABL Port-EL) support device use and modern learning behaviours.

The variation in back heights allows for different levels of privacy and comfort, supporting both quick interactions and more relaxed, extended use.

The Outcome

The result is a flexible and visually engaging seating solution that transforms open space into a series of connected social environments. The circular configurations encourage interaction from all sides, creating inclusive and dynamic gathering points.

Through modular design, integrated functionality and a confident use of colour, the Ally seating delivers a contemporary solution tailored to collaborative university environments.
